Doctor on trial accused of murdering elderly patient
A doctor is on trial in Vevey in canton Vaud, accused of murdering an 86-year-old patient with an drugs overdose.
He claims he was only trying to make the ‘unbearable, bearable’.
The woman’s family say they were unaware of the doctor’s plans.
The woman died at home in 2015 after a visit from the doctor. The patient’s family had already agreed to a ‘do not resuscitate’ instruction.
The doctor told the court the woman’s condition was agonizing for her and likened it to a fish dying out of water.
The court room was packed with mainly elderly people - all patients of the doctor. They wished to show their support for the defendant.
The trial continues.
