Factory farming ban will be voted on
Voters will be given a say if Switzerland should ban factory farming.
Campaigners have submitted 100,000 signatures which will force the question to the vote.
Environmental groups say intensive animal farming is cruel and contributes to climate change.
The initiative will now be discussed by parliament before the government sets a date for the vote.
But there are no guarantees it will pass. Voters have already rejected laws against the de-horning of cows and a proposal to boost ethical standards in food production.
Another vote on pesticide use will be coming up in the near future.
