Over 25% of people have cheated in relationship

A new survey says at least a quarter of people in a relationship say the have cheated on their partner.

More men than women say they have been unfaithful – 36% compared to 18% of women.

The reasons for straying in a relationship differ between men and women. Men say they may be unfaithful because of an unsatisfactory sex life – while women say it could be down to a lack of emotional closeness.

The survey was carried out by the 20 minutes newspaper.

Over the long term, the male-female differences flatten out. Virtually half of each say they have been unfaithful at least once during a relationship.
