Roadworks trap drivers in carpark for hours
A combination of roadworks and a demonstration caused major traffic problems in Zurich on Saturday afternoon.
Some drivers were trapped in an underground carpark for more than 2 hours.
Drivers are complaining to the press that the problems are not worthy of a major Swiss city.
Works had closed Stauffacherbrücke and the Stauffacherquai was down to only one lane.
In addition, an animal rights march had closed nearby roads.
The owner of the car park at Gessnerallee, City Parkhaus, where many motorists were trapped suspended payments. The managing director, Andreas Zürcher, says there seems to have been a lack of planning by city authorities to manage the traffic.
