Swiss prices cause issues for youth climate change summit
Discord is breaking out at the youth climate change summit in Lausanne – and one of the biggest problems are roaming charges.
450 young people are meeting as part of the ‘Smile for the Future’ movement to discuss ways to tackle climate change.
Big issues are being discussed, like the abolition of capitalism. But delegates from the former Soviet bloc are against. And there are divides on how radical the group should be.
But one of the biggest problems is simply being in Switzerland. The fact the country is not in the EU is seen as a disadvantage as problems need to solved by more than just one country – and the cost. Some say they can’t afford to eat as everything is expensive – and then there are fears about going online as international roaming charges apply.
