Pilot accuses passengers of giving incorrect weight in 2016 crash
A light aircraft pilot is blaming his passengers for not giving their correct weight for a crash in canton Schaffhausen in 2016.
One 50-year-old woman died and two other passengers were seriously injured.
An initial hearing decided the 52-year-old pilot was guilty of negligent homicide and fined him CHF 36,000.
But the pilot claims the crash was not his fault – he was given the wrong information. He says he regrets taking the passengers’ words on their weights and wishes he used scales instead.
Judges at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona are due to rule in the next few weeks.
