Zurich mayor proposes right to vote for non-Swiss
The mayor of Zurich says she wants to give non-Swiss the right to vote in local elections.
Corine Mauch says she’ll introduce the motion at the next session of city council after the summer.
She points out that almost a third of the city’s population have no voting rights – and for those under 39 it's actually about half.
The last attempt to give foreigners the vote was in 2013 and was rejected by three quarters of the electorate.
