Asian tiger mosquitos found in Zurich
Asian tiger mosquitos have been discovered in Zurich.
The insects are capable of transmitting diseases such as dengue fever. Even so, authorities say there’s no need to be concerned.
Eggs and larvae have been found in the Wollishofen area. It seems they survived the winter. Measures to control the spread have been put in place.
Locals are being asked to keep an eye out and take pictures if they suspect tiger mosquitos are in the area. The information should be sent to the federal environment office.
It’s not the first time the mosquitos have been found in Switzerland. They’ve been spotted in Graubünden before and are also in other European countries.
