Zurich airport at centre of air-travel disputes over weekend
New take-off and landing rules being considered at Zurich airport could risk its status as a hub airport.
That’s a warning from the head of Lufthansa – which owns Swiss International Airlines.
Carsten Spohr was speaking to the NZZ newspaper yesterday. He says plans to cut late night aircraft movements would create major problems.
He says the airport will lose many of its long-haul destinations if the changes go ahead.
Meanwhile, protestors lay on the ground at the airport on Saturday. They’re calling for people to stop flying by 2020. The action was timed to mark the start of the summer holiday period.
Authorities tolerated the protest as airport operations were not affected.
