In a mishap that made headlines around the world, those attending a yodeling festival were treated to a stunning aerial show, while those 6km away celebrating the life of a Swiss aviation pioneer missed out.

Squadron leader Gunnar Jansen says he had been distracted for a few seconds by the appearance of an unauthorized helicopter in their airspace.

He says he saw a tent and believed that was where the team were meant to be.
