Swiss Air Force puts on show over wrong tent
The Swiss Air Force’s crack display team put together a spectacular show on Sunday, but over the wrong festival.
The Swiss Patrol was supposed to put on a show above an event to mark the centenary of the death of the aviation pioneer Oskar Bider in canton Basel Country.
But the lead pilot saw a tent in a field and assumed that was where they should be – but it was a yodeling festival 6 kilometers away.
The yodelers got a show – the plane enthusiasts missed out.
The Ministry of Defence apologized for the mix-up and pointed out the planes used are more than 40 years old and do not have up to date navigation equipment.
