Zurich airport hit by weekend of chaos
Passengers will be hoping Zurich airport will be running more smoothly today after a weekend of chaos.
The airport was hit by a perfect storm of problems over the past couple of days from the start of the holiday period, the weather and sickness.
Lightning storms forced a change in approaches for aircraft – which limited the number of planes able to land per hour, higher than normal number of passengers heading off for their summer holidays and then many air traffic controllers calling in sick.
Unions say the controllers were upset by a recent court ruling that blamed air traffic control for a near-miss at the airport in 2013
