Suicides plaguing Geneva police force
Geneva police is suffering a bout of suicides – and families say the organisation has to show more understanding of the pressures officers are under.
Five policemen have killed themselves since 2012. In the 68 years before there were a total of 18.
Although the force is now putting more resources into mental health services and monitoring its staff, families complain it’s too little too late.
One officer killed himself when he received a letter saying he was under investigation after a violent arrest. His widow asks why the letter wasn’t first sent to his lawyer.
