Swiss Alps inspire Theresa May to go carbon neutral
The move by the outgoing British Prime Minister Theresa May to make the UK carbon neutral by 2050 was inspired by her regular walks in the Swiss Alps.
May told a podcast hosted by the UN climate negotiator Christina Figueres she’d seen a particular glacier retreat rapidly over the past 10 years.
Exactly where remains a mystery as the Prime Minister’s schedule is secret, despite efforts by the Swiss press to identify the region.
Britain is the first G7 country to make a commitment to go carbon neutral.
