Man rescued from Rhone river in stormy waters
A man had to be rescued from the Rhone river near the Pont Butin in Geneva yesterday afternoon.
He was part of a group of around 10 who were on the river in inflatable boats.
The river was flowing exceptionally fast due to the previous day’s storm. One boat was caught by submerged tree branches and dragged under the water.
It took 15 firefighters to free him.
Authorities warn that all bathers should be aware of the dangers of swimming in the rivers and lakes.
