Young people want return of sleeper trains
The majority of young people in Switzerland would like to see the return of overnight sleeper trains running between major European cities.
The sleeper services have been gradually cut back over the past several years as passengers moved to budget airlines.
With environmental concerns now topping the list of worries for the young, they’d like to see more options available. 60% said they would take the train if they could.
The survey was published by the Swiss Association for Transport and the Environment.
The only sleeper services in Europe running at the moment are offered by Austrian Railways – running between Zurich, Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna.
