The secretive Bilderberg Conference will be taking place in the French speaking part of Switzerland for the first time.

It starts tomorrow at the Montreux Palace Hotel.

Over 130 politicians and business leaders will be attending, including the Swiss president Ueli Maurer who will be there for the full three days.

Also attending will be NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the head of the German CDU Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer who has been tipped as Angela Merkel’s successor.

Maybe a reflection of the UK’s diminishing importance following the Brexit vote, only two British politicians will be attending. Andrew Adonis, a prominent anti-Brexit member of the House of Lords and back bench MP for the Conservative Party Tom Tugendhat – who also is against the UK leaving the EU.

Many conspiracy theories surround the conference as attendees are there only in a personal capacity and no notes are taken or released.
