Women warned of disciplinary action if they strike on June 14
Some companies are warning there could be disciplinary proceedings against any woman who strikes on June 14th.
Unions are planning a day of action to highlight pay discrepancy between men and women and is urging every woman to take to the streets.
In Bern, there’ll be a major demonstration on then Bundesplatz outside parliament.
But many big companies say any worker who wished not to come into work that day should take a day’s holiday. The dairy company Emmi and Swiss Federal Railways say an unauthorized absence could trigger a warning.
Action is planned right across the country. One of the organizers, Anne Fritz, says its not just working women who deserve more recognition – but also those who choose to stay at home – looking after the children and cooking for the family.
