Runner dies after Bern half-marathon
A 42-year-old runner from Zurich died near the finish line of the Bern half marathon over the weekend.
The man collapsed just as he was approaching the end – paramedics managed to resuscitate him, but he later died in hospital.
A statement from the race organizers says it’s thought the death was due to a preexisting medical condition.
The Bern half marathon has been run for the last 38 years. The last time there was a death during the race was in 2010.
