New gender separate toilets on Swiss trains
For the first time, Swiss trains will have gender separated toilets. The new trains will run through the Gotthard Base Tunnel and will be equipped with three urinals, three female toilets, separate disabled facilities and a gender-neutral toilet.
Swiss Federal Railways say the move comes after customer research. A spokesman says cleanliness is a major factor and points out in some toilets that were fitted with a urinal and a bowl, the urinal was nose height when sitting.
The new toilets will be major improvement, he says.
