Drinking and sailing law to be abolished
The government says it will abolish the drinking and sailing law from next year.
Five years ago, new regulations banned users of small boats and dinghies from being over the same alcohol limit as driving.
But the law was regularly ignored and roundly criticized as too extreme.
After a consultation, new guidelines will not lay down a specific blood/alcohol level – although in case of an accident, how much the skipper has had to drink could be taken into account.
