Child obesity figures show health campaigns working
A health organization says it’s pleased at new figures showing how many children are overweight in Switzerland.
They show that 17.3% of school children are too heavy – but that’s stable compared to last year. Also, it shows a decline in obesity for those between 8 and 12 years old.
Promotion Health Switzerland, which published the figures, says it shows campaigns to cut childhood obesity are working.
They’ve focused on healthy eating and exercise.
In addition, the Federal Statistics Office says children born today will live longer than ever. A quarter of all girls could reach 100 years old. Boys will live around 6 years less.
For those born in 1917, less than 2% would hit 100.
