Cuts continue for Fêtes de Genève

National News // By Tay Kinnear // April 25, 2019

This year’s Geneva summer firework display will go ahead on August 10th – but the Fêtes de Genève will again be a cut down affair from previous years.

The Geneva Tourist Office says sponsors have been secured for the traditional firework display. It will last 45 minutes and will use 2.5 tonnes of explosives.

The rest of the festival will be only for 11 days – the same length of time as last year following several years of loss making.

But there will be the Swiss village and a Ferris wheel on the Jardin Anglais from end of May to September.
