Canton Aargau to get first speed camera
The canton of Aargau is to get its first fixed speed camera.
The canton has been the only in the country not to have any cameras after the cantonal parliament banned them. But the city of Baden took the government to court, arguing it was essential for traffic safety.
The court ruled communes are ultimately responsible for road safety and gave the green light for the new system.
It will be installed on a major junction.
But the cantonal government can still appeal to federal courts.
