5G arrives in Switzerland despite fears
The next generation of mobile phones are coming to Switzerland, despite health fears.
Already the Sunrise network has 5G operating in more than 150 cities and towns in the country and Swisscom says it will switch on its network next month and start selling 5G handsets.
But there are worries the new network could be dangerous and some cantons and communes are denying permission for the new masts.
Sunrise and Swisscom have published a 5G fact sheet in an effort to counter some of the claims. It says scientists have not been able to confirm a health risk with mobile phones and anyway 90% of exposure to electromagnetic radiation comes from the users’ own phone and not the masts.
