CERN to open major new visitor centre
The Geneva based particle physics laboratory CERN has unveiled a CHF 79m visitor centre which will open in 2022.
The 7000 m2 new space will be at the main building in Meyrin, close to the French border. It will feature two suspended tunnels and a bridge over the road.
The centre will house exhibitions about the work at CERN and will generate much of its own power using solar cells.
Designed to be a ‘hands-on’ exhibition to give visitors a taste of what its like to be a scientist.
Construction will start next year.
