Geneva concerned over proposed water bottling plant
Concerns are being raised in Geneva over plans by the neighbouring French town of Divonne-les-Bains to open a mineral water bottling plant.
The French firm plans to take water from 180 meters deep. They’re dismissing fears it will lead to a lower flow of the Versoix river which feeds into Lake Geneva.
The company - which is investing EUR 20m in the project - also says their delivery trucks will avoid the local border crossing at peak times to cut down on traffic disruption.
They openly admit they see Switzerland, and Geneva particularly, as a prime market for the water.
