Imitation weapons trigger police alert
Police stormed a shopping centre in Zurich yesterday to confront a man carrying an automatic rifle and a hand gun.
Alarmed shoppers called police at the Shopville centre when they spotted the man eating at a snack bar.
It turned out the weapons were imitation – but the police point out that remains illegal.
The 28-year-old faces up to three years in jail – although a fine is more likely, according to the city police.
A police spokeswoman says imitation weapons are a constant problem for the police.
