Protesters march through Lausanne against trading companies
Around 200 protestors marched in Lausanne yesterday as the city hosted a major conference of commodity trading companies.
The marchers say the firms are stealing valuable natural resources from developing countries.
A small group fought with police at the march, they were pepper sprayed.
The foreign minister, Ignazio Cassis, was at the conference. He recently caused controversy when he visited the world’s largest mining company Glencore – which is based in canton Zug - and went to its operations in Zambia.
