Swiss man accused of IS meddling
A Swiss man is facing judges at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, accused of recruiting fighters to go to Syria to fight against Islamic State.
The 37-year-old man was born in Sankt Gallen, is from a Christian/Turkish background and used to be a sergeant in the Swiss army.
He placed adverts on social media calling for people to join him.
He’s accused of weakening the army by training foreign troops between 2013 and 2015.
He’s joined in court by others who also traveled to Syria.
The trial is expected to last until tomorrow.
