Swiss NGOs to lose EU funding
Several Swiss based non-governmental organisations are to lose funding from the EU.
The move seems to be linked to Brexit. The EU says its review of its funding programme has determined NGOs not based in the Union are not eligible. The review was triggered by looking at the future relationship with the UK after the country leaves the EU.
Switzerland is also in its own fraught discussions with the EU to determine its future relationship.
The main organisations to be affected are Médecins Sans Frontières, Caritas, and World Vision.
The decision will not affect specific operations being funded by the EU across the world which may involve Swiss based NGOs.
