Gender pay gap widening
Despite efforts to close the gender pay gap – new figures from the Federal Statistics Office show it’s widening.
On average, men earned 19.6% more than women in 2016 – four years before it was 19.5%.
The difference is around CHF 650 a month.
Researchers say some of the discrepancy can be explained by continual length of service and qualifications. But in almost half of cases, there’s no obvious explanation.
