Gangs around the world are seeing Switzerland as a soft touch.

It normally starts on a dating site and the names are generally Anglo-Saxon sounding. Many of the communications are in English.

The scammers create an identity, often US armed services personnel based in Iraq or Afghanistan. After a series of pleasant messages, the person then mentions a financial problem.

One woman in Zug handed over CHF 400,000. She warns never give money to someone you’ve never met.
