Politician criticizes snow clearers in Zurich
Snow clearing services in Zurich are defending themselves against critics who say they’re not clearing sidewalks and concentrating on the roads.
A local politician posted a picture of a road that had been cleared, but the pavement was still snow covered. Zurich government councillor, Jacqueline Fehr, says it ignores the needs of pedestrians, cyclists and those with prams or wheelchairs.
A spokesman for the for the city’s snow clearers says they have to follow federal guidelines which means they have to concentrate on main roads and routes to hospitals and train stations. Residential areas are a low priority.
