Government eyes traffic blackspots for improvements
Reports in yesterday’s NZZ newspaper suggests the Swiss government is examining a series of major road improvement schemes.

The area running between Zurich, Basel and Bern is highlighted as a major problem and all the autoroutes could be expanded to six lanes.
Another area is the A1 between Geneva and Lausanne – that could also get a new lane in each direction.
New bypasses could also be built, especially around Geneva, Lausanne and Basel and new autoroutes between Bern and Lucerne which could skip Zurich altogether.
