Geneva airport noise levels to decrease
The government has set new noise limits for Geneva airport which will determine its expansion over the next few years.
The airport expects to handle an extra 25% of passengers over the next 15 years.
Despite the expansion, the noise levels should decrease as newer and quieter planes are introduced.
An airport spokesman says the new regulations are important and necessary and says CHF 30m has already been invested to improve the airport’s environmental impact.
There will also be new limits on the noise after 10pm. The airport hopes to keep delayed flights after that time to a minimum.
