Protest in Moutier over vote to switch cantons
Up to 10,000 marched in the town of Moutier on Friday night, protesting the decision to annul the vote which had seemed to have decided the town should switch cantons from Bern to Jura.
In June last year 4,000 voted, but the decision hinged on only 137 votes.
Officials decided there’s sufficient evidence to show some voters illegally declared themselves resident.
Those wanting the canton change say the move is political and they will continue to fight for the result.
