1 in 3 Swiss teens want authoritarian government
One in three Swiss teenagers say they would prefer a more authoritarian government.
That’s the result of a large extremism survey. The teens believe there should be leaders telling us exactly what we should be doing.
Also, many believe laws should stricter against the homeless and drug addicts to maintain order.
The study’s author, Dirk Baier from the University of Applied Sciences, says the results are worrying – mainly because the respondents are the leaders of tomorrow.
But it’s not all bad news, 80% do say they like Swiss democracy. Baier says this is where the work lies, building a positive attitude to democracy.
