Geneva residents fight airport building plan
Residents around Geneva airport are fighting plans for new 47-meter-tall building nearby.
They say it will increase the noise as it will echo through the local neighbourhoods.
But currently authorities only use the average amount of noise from the airport in its calculations – and seems unsure on how to monitor echoes.
But the residents refer to a study carried out at Amsterdam airport which showed a similar development led to a rise of 27db.
A recent attempt to overturn the planning permission has been rejected.
