Swiss economy CHF 1bn stronger than expected
Switzerland will be CHF 2.5bn in the black by the end of the year – over a billion francs more than expected.
The government says the strong economy is to thank. Receipts from VAT are CHF 400m higher than budgeted alone.
GDP is expected to show a 3.6% growth this year – more than the 2.3% than predicted.
In addition, costs are lower. Expenditure is CHF 200m down. Mainly due to lower than expected asylum claims. Money has been saved from running asylum centres and benefit payments.
