Store detective unlawfully handcuffs customer
A store detective for the Globus branch in Lucerne is in court for allegedly illegally detaining a man and using handcuffs,
The 32-year-old detective had only been doing the job for a couple of weeks when they had a report of someone stealing perfume.
The detective followed the man out of the shop and into the street. The court heard that without warning, the detective grabbed the man, forced him to his knees, handcuffed him and then searched his backpack. He was then taken back to the shop.
Globus says his actions were against company policy and they don’t issue handcuffs.
The detective is being charged with deprivation of liberty and kidnapping.
