Construction worker strikes continue across nation
Construction workers are threatening further strike action if their working conditions continue to deteriorate.
3,000 refused to work yesterday in canton Ticino – and further action is being held in Geneva today. Hundreds of workers are taking to the streets to fight for better conditions – causing major disruption.
Unions say they are being forced to work longer hours and bringing in cheaper foreign labourers to undercut pay.
Over the summer an agreement was reached with firms to maintain the 60-year-old retirement age. Workers say the worsening conditions is a retaliation.
