Child-Sex offenders banned from working with children for life
The government has said anyone who has been convicted of a sexual offence against a child will be barred from working with them for life.
The new law follows an initiative which was passed in 2014.
The ban will apply irrespective of the severity of the offence and the sentence.
It also applies to anyone who has sexually assaulted a vulnerable adult.
The lifetime ban extends to any activity which involves direct contact with those who are infirm due to illness or age.
But a judge could apply an exemption if there’s good reason to believe there’s no chance of reoffending. This is likely only to apply in the case of young teenagers.
