Unemployed Geneva frontalier workers can now register in the canton
Unemployed frontaliers around Geneva can now register with the cantonal employment office to look for work.
Previously those who live in France missed out on priority job placements.
But now, like Swiss residents, a frontalier can be listed as looking for work and their details will be made available to companies looking for staff. The only condition is the worker must have worked in Switzerland for a least a year before.
A spokesman for the frontalier association, Groupement transfrontalier, says the move is important as many cross-border workers have only ever worked in Switzerland.
