Police chase through Geneva into France
Vaud police chased a car towing a stolen caravan in the early hours of Sunday morning through Vaud, Geneva and then into France – the chase crossed the French/Swiss border several times.
It ended when the car rammed the Vaud police just outside the French town of Thoiry.
A Vaud policewoman was seriously injured in the incident.
The thieves tried to escape on foot, but were soon arrested.
Questions are being raised following the French refusal to allow Geneva paramedics to attend the crash. It took half an hour for a French ambulance to arrive and an hour for a doctor to be on the scene.
Geneva police have expressed surprise at the decision and believe a Swiss medical team could have been faster on the scene.
