Police debate body cameras in Zurich
Zurich police officers are fighting against the introduction of body cams.
A Green Party cantonal MP wants to equip the officers with the cameras.
But the move may not get enough votes to make it law.
Many officers themselves are against the idea, feeling the footage could be used against them.
The head of the Association of Swiss Police Officers, Max Hoffman, says it’s not just up to the politicians to decide.
He says there are many questions, such as when should they be turned on and how long will the footage be kept for?
But there is no dispute more should be done to prevent violence against the police, which is on the rise – up 12% this year.
