More cross-border workers in Geneva
The number of people crossing the border to work in Geneva is continuing to climb – but the rate of increase is declining.
The latest figures from the Geneva statistics office shows there were 85,351 people travelling into the canton to work - a rise of 1.7%.
But the rise is low by historical standards. A year before it was almost 3%.
The high number of cross border workers could be an indication of the strength of the Geneva economy. Unemployment is at a record low of 10,000 – the best number for 17 years.
