Police intervene with teenagers’ misjudged practical joke on their father

National News // By Rebecca Karmazyn // Aug. 14, 2018

Two 17- and 18-year-old boys could face a hefty bill after a practical joke on their father went horribly wrong and led to police swooping on the scene.

The boys had decided to fake an attack on their father to frighten him as the three went for a hike on Sunday afternoon near Kriens in the canton of Lucerne. Armed with air rifles and masks, the brothers hid in the forest and planned on surprising their father by jumping out at him.

The brothers were seen by other hikers who thought that they really were armed and dangerous and had attacked a man. The police were called, officers were sent to the scene and the teenagers were found by a police sniffer dog.

The cantonal prosecutor’s office in Lucerne has now opened an investigation into the misjudged practical joke and has yet to decide if the cost of the police operation will be passed on to the brothers or not.
