Fears that Swiss pharmacies are running out of some medicines
400 medications are in short supply.
Ibuprofen, the heart medicine Aspirin Cardio and the asthma spray Ventolin are in short supply in some Swiss pharmacies, along with nearly 400 other medications, according to one of the country’s leading pharmacists.
Interviewed by Swiss public television, SRF, yesterday, Enea Martinelli, who is responsible for the pharmacists’ national shortage list, said that some drugs aren’t being delivered to Switzerland as they are difficult to obtain, meaning pharmacies are running short on supplies.
Mr. Martinelli warned that doctors may have to switch patients’ prescriptions to drugs with different active ingredients, which could lead to more doctor’s visits and higher costs.
