Security is quicker at Geneva airport due to new machines
Geneva airport is leading the world with the use of new luggage scanners. The machines produce a 3D image of the bags and their contents. This means liquids and laptops do not need to be removed at security.
A spokesman for the airport says they are the first to use them in the world. Hong Kong airport has taken delivery of the new machines, but they haven’t been installed yet.
It’s quicker through security now as passengers are processed twice as fast.
It’s part of the plan by Geneva airport as it prepares to cope with a rise in passenger numbers. The number of people travelling through the airport is expected to double in the next 10 years or so.
